FREE FALL

Falling: the Unknown Factor

All of a sudden the floor is not there;

I feel myself falling through unhindered air.

I know I will hit, I just don’t know where;

I know it will hurt, but it’s too late to care!

This time I hit my head on the door;

Both being hollow, I left off the roar!

Next went my right wrist, painful and cut,

Followed by elbow, right knee, and butt!

Inventory taken, I’m still in one piece

Though my wrist hurts like six, wild buckshot geese!

That’s six on the floor, six on my chest,

Geese falling all over: sure, I’m depressed!

I fell in the bathroom, fall number two,

Places about me are now black and blue!

Since I’ve fallen before, much to my shame,

I hate to admit I’m usually to blame.
