Syndrome
What a complex jumble
Our human minds maintain,
Of thoughts and emotions,
Of pleasure and pain.
Constant vigilance
Should always be in place,
To guard the Threshold
To prevent the basket case.

Mind The Mystery
His mind's a joyful mystery,
For I see that Someone's there;
Behind the mask of soft brown eyes,
A curious, quizzical stare.
I pat his head with fond delight,
I scratch behind his ears;
I give him furious belly rubs
To calm his thunder fears.
I hold him when the vacuum roars,
I worry about his back;
But what goes on behind those eyes,
No one but God can track.

Flesh and Blood
The problem with memory,
We often forget,
Is that mind is the matter
And the matter to wit.

The Lost Soul
My mind has gone dead;
Now I know why:
My body went first
And I've no tears to cry.
Alas for my soul
That lingers behind,
Confused and defeated
With no one to mind.

Beware the Tiddledewink
Never blink at a tiddledewink,
Unless it's aimed at your eye;
Never shrink from a tiddledewink,
Unless it's going awry.
This advice, my son, is meant
To keep you safe and sound;
For when I'm 90 and sound of mind
I'd still like to have you around.
