After the Fall
Yesterday Eve saw a snake;
It called to her in passing:
"Don't worry Lass, God's humor is
Original and surpassing.
Two days from now you'll see how right
It was to take that first quick bite
With Adam sure to follow,
Though today it's hard to swallow.
So please don't fret, you ain't dead yet,
For pain is just an empty threat,
Though I'll be on my way today
Before Himself finds more to say,
And takes another body part;
His humor's what sets Him apart!
Adieu, my Sweet, Adieu."

Pilgrimage?
When Eve left for Rome to visit the Pope,
Adam stayed home to tend their tame goat.
What on earth did Eve have in mind?
A Francis encounter or pay-back in kind?
Who can tell in this secular age,
Though the Vatican stays
A great holy stage,
For which we Thank God--
Amen.

Eden's Weather
Ah. That's better:
Sun lit morning,
Eve's in her Garden,
I in my book.
Distance brings delight.
After all, I mistook,
Perhaps, and she will,
Once again, overlook.

Eve Alone
Eve's in the Garden,
A perilous sight;
Adam's not present,
Something's not right.
Her beauty's like sun rays
Cutting through clouds;
Frolicing creatures
Attend her in crowds.
But something's not right,
She's in a blue funk;
If I didn't know better,
I'd blame Blossom the Skunk.
The Serpent is talking,
That's new today;
What in God's Garden
Could he possibly say?

Eve
Now she wakes up angry;
I'm really not sure why;
Sometimes it's all the junk mail,
Sometimes the rainy sky;
Sometimes her lovely eldest, Cain,
More often you or I.

The Cosmic Connection
Like a coursing river
Our blood flows throughout time,
From Eve at the very beginning,
To the hand that nails the rhyme.
We pass on the subtle connection,
No gap in the supple cord
That links each generation:
Give thanks to the ways of the Lord.

The Unbroken Connection
Like an ebbing cosmic ocean
Our blood flows throughout time,
From Eve at the very beginning
To the hand that nails the rhyme.
