Who Knew?
How did we get
To be who we are,
Self-aware creatures
Who live near a star,
Self-aware creatures
Whose lives are so small
That Time will consume us
Before next nightfall?

On the Road
How could it be
So thin and green,
Three blades of grass
With a rough-hewn sheen;
Two black eyes
On its narrow head,
Raised above
The blacktop bed;
A lovely creature
Though a snake,
Long and still
And clearly awake.

A creature so Dear,
Each child should have one

Creatures so mean
That when they get angry
Their teeth all turn Green!
