Words
It must be true,
You said it twice.
The first was Fire,
The second Ice.
I heard the words
Inside my head:
--Fire and Ice--
Each leaves you dead.

Knobby and Impaired
I used to have a sense of smell;
It's mostly gone, alas.
My nose just sits upon my face
Like dust upon green grass.
I used to have a sense of touch;
It too has disappeared.
Now my hands are burned and sore
Like steak that's just been seared.
Sight and sound still mostly work,
Though both need extra aid.
With sight it's new bifocals;
With sound it's soft then fade.
Senses are a marvelous gift,
Our way to know our world.
Old age however wipes them out,
And leaves us gnarled and knurled.

Hawkeye
The Hawk sat in the maple tree,
Eyeing all the feeders.
Looking for some morning sport,
He only chased the speeders.

Andy Panda #14
Andy Panda ruffled feathers
On a snow white mountain Goose.
Once the Goose had dealt with him,
He gave him to the mountain Moose.
Andy Panda!
The Moose of course turned Andy loose.
Noble Moose!

Andy Panda #13
Andy Panda met a Troll,
Ten feet tall and growing.
Readers with perceptive ears
Will know the wind was blowing.
Andy Panda!

This Sparrow
Walking through our new front door,
I saw the wounded Sparrow.
God of course was watching him,
Though staying incognito.

Andy Panda #11
Andy Panda rode a coaster,
Screaming all the time it fell
Down the highest inclined plane
That gravity was working well!
Andy Panda!

Andy Panda #10
Andy Panda ate a biscuit
Made of flour, butter, cheese.
Anyone could tell that biscuit
Would make Andy Panda sneeze.
Amen!
Andy Panda!

Andy Panda #9
Andy Panda wrote a book
On how to take a backward look.
But "turn around, don't lose your head,"
Was all that Andy's small book said.
Andy Panda!

Joyful Noise
Not all my noise is joyful,
But much of it might pass:
Singing in the shower
Or my Ave sung at Mass.
Calling for my little dog
With back door pitch and poise,
Plus all the words I pour in verse
Would count as joy full noise.

Names
Pennsylvania's "Punxsutawney Phil"
Lives within a Punxsutawney hill
At a place named Gobbler's Knob.
They should have called him "Punxsutawney Bob"!
West Virginia's beast is "French Creek Freddie,"
A fat ground hog who's always ready,
For he has a strong conviction
To make a yearly bold prediction.
Ohio's "Buckeye Chuck"
Has had a run of awful luck:
First off New York stole his name;
Then Georgia stole his ground hog fame.
New York's "Chuck" is "Charles G. Hogg,"
While Georgia just misnamed a dog:
General Beauregard (something) Lee,
A name you can't say trippingly.
The problem up and down the line
Is using ground hogs for a sign:
Might as well read Wittgenstein
Or hire a prickly porcupine.

Climate of Opinion
Paradise is lost indeed,
No one knows the Nicene Creed,
Devils flourish, so does greed--
Alas the loss of Milton!
They issue forth but must return,
Demons gloat but never learn,
Thus the fires of Hell still burn--
Alas the loss of Milton!
Pride and envy, anger, lust,
Gluttony, greed, they spread like rust,
With sloth you simply need adjust--
Thus the human race's undone.
Alas the loss of Milton!

The Beast Within
Tonight the moon pulls strongly,
Tugging at the hidden beast;
Rage and terror mingle,
Like drunken guests at a feast.
The beast stares out through human eyes,
Though nothing human's there.
The tides of passion swell and burst
While flesh erupts in hair.

Beats per Minute
They say my heart stops often,
Three seconds more or less.
What if it won't start again?
Will-I just be laid to rest,
Put down into the cold cold ground,
Way too soon for glory bound,
Since my life is such a mess?
OMG

Social Entity 2
There is a Social Entity,
A curious social bond,
That binds us all together,
As the water in a pond
Binds all aquatic creatures
Who have aquatic features,
Like a frog, a fish, a frond.
#182
The Social Entity 1
The Social entity exists,
Of that I am quite certain.
Whenever someone turns her back,
It's like a falling curtain,
Especially when she walks away
And will not even turn to say
Goodbye, farewell, or welladay.

Earthen Vessels
The Resurrection body,
Never weak, nor ill, nor slow;
The Resurrection body,
A joy in which to grow,
A joy to be and know.
The will held perfectly in God,
Sin no more a threat--
The Resurrection body,
For which Christ has paid the debt.

Lunar Gravity
Neither Holy nor a platter,
Not a Chalice, not a cup,
NASA's GRAIL involves two spacecraft
And a roaring glorious send-up
To the Moon and lunar orbit,
Where the craft will map and know:
Thus the names of Ebb and Flow.
#179
Andy Panda #12
Andy Panda went to Mass,
Though he was a simple ass;
God, however, cherished him,
For God especially loves the dim.

Heart Failure
My heart is beating wildly;
The Doctors don't know why.
They tell me it stops frequently;
I'm sure they wouldn't lie.
If I were not so brave and tough,
I'd probably weep and sigh;
For everybody knows a heart
That stops will one day die.
